Review: Deutsches Haus
6 May

The $20-dine out mini club held their first meeting at Deutsches Haus. Here’s what mini club leader, Aaron had to say about the experience:
Our first group meeting was at Deutsches Haus, a German restaurant in the downstairs of the Vancouver Alpen Club, in East Van. Fortunately all group members were able to attend and we were able to make our introductions and get to know each other.
The restaurant is decorated more or less like a Swiss ski lodge, with lots of warm wood and oom-pah music in the background which makes for a very Alpen atmosphere. For dinner we all ordered various forms of schnitzel (flattened, breaded and fried pork chops) topped with various sauces of mushroom or pepper. Accompanying the meal we all had different kinds of fine imported German beer, all much better than your typical Beck’s or Warsteiner. For dessert we had what may have been the best Black Forest cake I’ve ever tried. Before leaving we decided on our next outing: Ethiopian food.
