This was the first meeting of the Food Forgery mini club :) We ordered an assortment of items including their renowned Grumpy Pork Bibimbap, sukiyaki hotpot, curry pork tonkatstu, mozzarella takoyaki, beef short ribs, tofu salad and more yummmm! Dinner came to a moderate $15 per person including tax and tip with great service! I can’t wait for our next meeting on Saturday where we will be making our own version of the grumpy pork bibimbap :D
For personal reference, the restaurant is Shibuya Nuts located at 774 Denman street right off of Robson if you would like to partake in it’s delicious tapas as well :)

Leader: Jennifer (Jen)

Time and Frequency: 1 Friday evening/month for cooking and 1 for dining out

Cost: Eating out will be between $10-$15 and cooking will hopefully be below 10$ depending on what we make.

Concept: Recreate your favourite restaurant dishes in your own kitchen!!

Intro:

Hi Foodies!  My name is Jen and I’m a second year transfer student in commerce at the Sauder School of Business.  I love eating out and trying different cuisines but my favourites are Japanese and Korean.  I recently started cooking, and I love experimenting and making up my own variations on everyday dishes.  I wanted to start this club because even though I love eating out, I know it gets expensive.  This way, you can learn to make all the great dishes you enjoy in restaurants at home!  In Food Forgery we will be visiting a variety of restaurants around Vancouver and alternating meetings between eating out and making a simple version of that restaurant’s signature dish.  Hopefully you will have a lot of fun, make some great food and maybe even find a new favourite place to eat :D .  I am still deciding on venues and would love any input you have, and we can decide as a group what signature dish we will be making each week.

Possible venues so far:

Japanese tapas – Suika/Shibuya-Nuts/Guu

Japanese/Korean BBQ – Gyu kaku

French – Twisted Fork on Granville
