Baking! (…+bento?)
Hello food lovers!
I’m Kimberley, a second year Arts student hoping to double major in Psychology and Economics. I’m also an amateur photographer polishing my skills here at FoodSoc. But enough about me, let’s talk about BAKING. If you have a sweet tooth and are interested in baking or dessert making, it would be great if we could meet and make something to satisfy our sweet cravings! In our first meeting (the date is still TBA) we will start off with a simple delight for all those chocolate lovers out there: Fondant au Chocolat and then finalize plans the events and meeting times for the rest of the semester, to ensure that everyone is happy with it.
And for the observant ones of you out there who’ve realized that I haven’t mentioned the bento… you’re right! While, I don’t have as much experience with making bento as I do with baking, I’m hoping that we will dedicate a session (or two depending on the frequency of meetings) to making bento, Japanese lunchboxes. So if this interests you and/or if you have some knowledge of how to make bento, come along and help so that we can all learn together!
Events: (tentative and schedule to change based on group demand and number of sessions)
- Fondant au Chocolat [Chocolate Molten Lava Cakes]
- French Macarons (not the coconut ones) + Homemade Ice Cream
- Kyaraben [character-shaped decorative bento.] If you’ve never seen one, google it. NOW. (I can’t guarantee that ours will be quite as awesome ._.)
- Whipped Cream and Fresh Fruit Sponge Cake + Checkerboard and Icebox Cookies
Cost: Will be determined after the first meeting. Nothing overly pricey
Requirements: basic baking/cooking experience is recommended
