Taste Buddies

Leader

Courtney

Time:

Monday evenings, once or twice a month

List of Events:

For beginners learning how to cook, I think it is important to do a wide variety of fun yet practical dishes that will keep members interested and wanting to keep learning how to cook. So, some ideas of tentative dishes would be:
• International cooking sessions
• Quick, easy yet tasty meals
• Group’s choice of meal to cook
• Cooking easily made items (like stuffed baked potatoes) that can be done in different situations and can be versatile (like being frozen, then reheated and still be tasty).

Costs:

This all depends on what dish we are cooking, but overall, I would say members should be willing to pay up to $10 maximum per event.

Details

My name is Courtney Rathbone. I am a fun loving, friendly person, who loves to cook and introduce people to new experiences. I am originally from South Africa but have been living in Dubai (in the United Arab Emirates) for the past 9 years. In those 9 years, I have acquired a passion for international cuisine through travel and living in an international community. I wish to share this passion with others. In high school I took a food technology course that helped me gain creativity and skills, which I plan to implement into the mini club.

The focus of this club is to teach beginners how to cook. Future events that will make this process interesting involve Ready… Steady…Cook! (Teaching members how to cook quick, easy yet tasty meals), Members choice (A session devoted to a meal chosen by the group collectively), Snack Attack (Members will learn how to make simple meals that can be made at anytime. For example, stuffed baked potatoes), and Global Gastronomy (meaning global food/cooking), which will be our first event. Global Gastronomy is where we will cook an international meal. We will learn how to cook a good meal and at the same time learn about another culture.

I hope the events and goals of this mini club entice you to come give it a try.

Looking forward to seeing you there!!
